Bloomsbury Glimpses of a Strange Land - Old Testament Ethics

Explore the complexities of biblical morality with Glimpses of a Strange Land: Studies in Old Testament Ethics. In this scholarly work, Dr. Cyril Rodd examines the fundamental assumptions found in recent studies of Old Testament ethics. He investigates the unique nature of the biblical world and questions if Old Testament ethics can be defined by modern standards, noting that many contemporary dilemmas were viewed differently by ancient writers. Dr. Rodd provides a detailed examination of five specific ethical issues throughout the Old Testament writings: the treatment of the poor, the conduct of war, the treatment of animals, ecology, and the position of women. This book considers the validity and relevance of these ancient perspectives for today's readers. This edition is a used book in good condition, making it an accessible resource for students and scholars of Bible studies and Old Testament criticism.
