Description

Experience the birth of a musical revolution with Bear Family Records' Vol.1 Electric Blues 1939-1954. This comprehensive three-CD collection captures the moment amplification changed the landscape of popular music forever. Following the invention of the Gibson ES-150, the first electric guitar, musicians found new ways to be heard over piano, drums, and horns. This set is the first installment in a four-volume series that tracks the evolution of electric Blues from its early roots into the new millennium. Compiled and annotated by renowned Blues expert Bill Dahl, this collection provides deep historical context for the pioneers who transitioned from acoustic instruments to electrified sounds. From jazz-inspired jump styles to the foundational sounds of the 1930s and 40s, this collection offers a complete look at the era that redefined the genre. It is an essential addition for collectors and enthusiasts wanting to understand the origins of modern electric music.
