Arthaus Musik Jacques Offenbach Hoffmanns Erzahlungen Blu-ray

Experience a unique interpretation of Jacques Offenbach's unfinished opera, Les Contes d'Hoffmann. This Blu-ray features Walter Felsenstein's distinctive approach to this classic work. Felsenstein developed his own German version by studying original materials from the Paris Bibliotheque Nationale, including piano score copies from the premiere and the libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carr. This production reflects Felsenstein's deep connection to Offenbach's vision, focusing on a dramatic sequence of spoken word and music. It offers a rare look at how a director can use historical research to breathe new life into a legendary composition. This release is ideal for fans of opera and classical theater who appreciate meticulous historical reconstruction and dramatic storytelling.
