Description

Experience a definitive collection of the British acid folk scene with Gather In The Mushrooms: The British Folk Underground 1969-1975. Compiled by Bob Stanley, this Ace Records release documents a unique era of music. This new edition brings together the best tracks from the original 2004 Sanctuary compilation, which was highly popular and led to a sequel. This version is enhanced with additional tracks that were not available previously, including music from C.O.B., Roy Harper, and Fotheringay. While these songs are not traditional, they possess a distinct authenticity and an autumnal atmosphere. The naive style of these recordings helped influence the neo-folk movement of the 2000s, making this an essential listen for fans of underground folk music.
