Description

A practising engineer opens a mathematics textbook looking for one specific method and finds a semester's worth of surrounding material instead — or opens a formula sheet and finds an equation with no derivation and no way to check whether it actually applies to the problem at hand. Most working engineers keep two kinds of mathematics reference nearby, and neither one fully works.
