In the heart of Copenhagen in 2020, founder Christian Arensbak set out to solve a problem that had frustrated wine lovers for years: almost every non-alcoholic alternative was either too sweet, too flat, or simply didn't taste right. He brought together sommelier Emilie Øst-Jacobsen and gastrophysicist Bram Kerkhof — both with experience at world-famous restaurants including Noma — and together they created something genuinely new: a wine proxy. A proxy isn't de-alcoholised wine. There's no wine to begin with. Instead, ARENSBAK is built from the ground up on a base of fermented tea — kombucha — because tea, like grapes, naturally contains the acids and tannins that give wine its structure and body. ARENSBAK Rosé layers bright, summery botanicals over that tea base: fragrant elderflower, a gentle warmth of pink pepper, and delicate floral notes, all balanced by the clean acidity the tea provides. The result is fresh, fruity, and light on its feet — exactly what a good rosé should be. What you get is a crisp, dry, alcohol-free alternative to rosé wine — aromatic and refreshing, with real character rather than the flat sweetness of most alcohol-free options. It's vegan, made without artificial additives or preservatives, sustainably produced in lightweight, FSC-certified packaging, and has around a third of the calories of wine. It has also won a silver medal at international competition. The small amount of residual alcohol (under 0.5%) occurs naturally from the fermentation, similar to that found in a ripe banana.
