Songs of Time - Volume II - Voices of Remembrance

This volume is not merely a collection of essays, but a body of writing shaped and refined by time itself. Spanning from 2013 to 2026, the book gathers over a decade of Chen Yajun's continuous writing, weaving together fragments of daily life, observations of nature, and reflections on human experience into a coherent temporal landscape. Her writing often arises from the ordinary-a passing rain, a journey, the shift of seasons, or subtle emotional exchanges between people. The language is restrained and unadorned, yet reveals a steady rhythm and quiet resonance upon closer reading. With a long career in vocal training and choral practice, Chen brings an innate sensitivity to rhythm, pause, and tonal flow. Her writing does not strive for rhetorical complexity; instead, it unfolds like a sustained voice-measured, enduring, and resonant across time. This quality is especially evident in her ongoing exploration of the "Olive Poem," a concise poetic form that carries depth through restraint. Rather than a conventional anthology, this book traces a visible arc of time. Scattered moments of life gain density through persistence, while personal experience accumulates into something tangible and lasting. If Volume I presents the process of writing, Volume II reveals what writing leaves behind. In looking back, these texts become more than records-they are sediment, formed quietly, yet enduringly, in the flow of time.
