What Embers Remain (The Embers Saga)

What Embers Remain A space opera that takes everything but itself seriously. Ferris Kaelor is a halfway decent engineer in a loving family of degenerate pirates. His life is re-recycled protein (now with added crunch!), and worship of The Dark Mother Kali. He fixes what others use to become heroes and villains, yearning for purpose. Too smart for his own good, Ferris is gonna get what he wants. Talaryn Rakash is a pirate captain running hostage buybacks and piracy like a project manager. When an old debt comes calling in the wreckage of one of Humanity's last homes, he sets off a chain reaction that no Projection Report could predict. Celia Thal is an idealistic alien journalist at Galaxy News Network. With a perfect memory, she’s cursed to whitewash political scandals and cover the hottest scoop: “Excessive Ambition Misalignment Syndrome.” She’ll stumble through the living satire and corporate buzzwords and find a cosmic nightmare waits in the bedrock of the Galaxy. Empires and realpolitik, genetics and war, trauma and defiance in the same breath as mocking giant murder chickens with “Bok Bok!” and the painful comedy of a gig economy. The biting satire of a galaxy too far up its own ass to ever touch grass, but underneath all of it, something ancient stirs, and a dead god dreams once more. No one's getting out of this one intact. But that isn't gonna stop anyone. It never does. This is fine. Includes 30 Commissioned Art pieces, from six artists, including WIP versions Genre: Tragicomedy, Mil & Pol Sci-Fi, Cosmic Horror
