It defined how a Les Paul® with Seymour Duncan Alnico II humbucker should sound: warm sustain, biting mids, and pure attitude. Years later, Slash gets its new Les Paul® models. Same perfect quality, same elegant look, but something is missing: the old humbuckers no longer sang as before. Subtle differences in wood and construction ensured that the original pickups no longer fully captured the spell. So Seymour Duncan took on the task of bringing back the magical "Appetite for Destruction" sound. The result: the APH-2 Slash Signature Humbucker. Built around an Alnico II bar magnet, this pickup uses a special magnetic wire and winding design. So it delivers the distinctive slash character - warm, dynamic, full of attitude and faithful to the legendary "Appetite for Destruction" sound. Originally built to classic Les Paul® specifications with long mounting brackets and single-core braided cable, it has been further developed for added versatility. The new Slash version maintains the iconic tone and output but offers additional options. Designed for trembucker string spacing, suitable for the wider string spacing of Fender® and Floyd-Rose® tremolo bridges, with optimal positioning of pole pieces under the strings. Thanks to the 4-wire connection cable, functions such as coil splitting, serial/parallel connection of wiring and phase switching open up. Whether you prefer the warm pickup sound or the clear single-coil characteristic, this pickup adapts to your style. Short mounting brackets make the Slash Trembucker suitable for a wider range of guitars, including models with flat top or thinner body, and allow direct mounting to the body. The pickup is handmade in Santa Barbara - just like Seymour Duncan made the original in the 1980s: with a nickel silver base plate, maple spacer, paper tape and wax casting. And yes - it's exactly the same pickup that Slash's guitar technician Ace Bergman puts into his guitars. When Slash needs a new one, it comes straight out of serial production.
