Discover La Sécurité is a dive into the night energy of Montreal, between neons, sweat and dancing pulsations. The art-punk-pop collective mixes catchy rhythms, abrasive textures and minimalist melodies, cut for dancefloor as much as insomnia. Driven by a Riot Grrrl spirit, their music celebrates empowerment, friendship and radical benevolence. At the crossroads of punk, new wave and krautrock, La Sécurité shakes up the codes and deploys a resolutely DIY universe, as vibrant to listen to as it is to live. After a critically acclaimed debut album, Stay Safe!, released in 2023, La Sécurité returns with Bingo!. La Sécurité (Montreal) is a collective whose punk art consists of equal parts jerky rhythms, offbeat arrangements and eye-catching minimalist melodies, all passed through the filter of insomnia, the result of excessive exposure to the city's neon lights. The music speaks of living dangerously, perfectly adapted to be broadcast at full volume on dance floors, while the lyrics share the ethics of the Riot Grrrl movement and celebrate the empowerment of women, friends (bad and kind) as well as benevolence. After the release of their debut album Stay Safe! (June 16, 2023), selected for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize, as well as his happy descendant Stay Safe! REMIXED (March 8, 2024), with the Mothland label, the quintet proposed the singles "Detour" (October 22, 2024) and "Ketchup" (January 28, 2025), setting the stage for a new wave of DIY sound jewels, this time in collaboration with the British label founded by Simon Raymonde : Bella Union. Thus, this motley band continues to flirt with the fringes of punk, new wave and krautrock, maliciously flouting stylistic codes on every occasion that arises, as evidenced by their second album, Bingo!, which is scheduled for release on June 12, 2026 via Bella Union (in the world) and Mothland (in Canada and the United States). Every day you can see Security wearing heathered clothes in thrift stores while ensuring their set in a legendary underground room, on the roof of a tanning salon for a niche festival, or live on Riley & Coe (BBC 6). And for a true vintage musical avalanche, look no further than the VHS tape they made for Audiotree Live. From start to finish, the Quebec band engages in a symbiosis between scruffy music, veiled poetry and improvised dance, with movement as the main creative engine. Since their formation in spring 2022, they have been invited to perform at notable events such as SXSW (among the best of SXSW 2025 according to NPR), End of the Road, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.
