Pride Before Destruction

My name is Steven Noel Davison, known professionally as PSD Tha Drivah™, and this book is a firsthand account of the path I lived—shaped by ambition, survival, and pride. My life moved through juvenile halls, county jails, state prisons, and the federal Bureau of Prisons, while music ran parallel as both outlet and mirror. The streets and the studio ran side by side, feeding one another, each demanding something in return and creating constant internal conflict. The streets crowned me and cursed me in the same breath. As opportunities expanded, so did risk. Confidence blurred into denial. Pride masked habits that quietly became chains. Raids, cases, betrayals, and close calls followed—along with real loss: time that never comes back, relationships fractured or erased, people gone, and parts of myself I didn’t realize I was sacrificing until they were already missing. Music was always present, but it was never fully honored. It became a release instead of a responsibility—a music career I never took seriously, while the streets demanded my full attention. Music still became my most honest translator. When words failed, it carried what I couldn’t say outright—truths delivered metaphorically, pain processed in sound, and loss acknowledged only after it had settled in. This story reaches a crossroads—not a victory lap, but an honest accounting. It is a clear-eyed look at how pride enabled failure, how ambition sheltered addiction, and how identity can be shaped by environment if left unchecked. Survival alone was never the goal. Understanding became necessary. With time, empathy replaced arrogance, and wisdom grew where ego once stood.
