This book is a clinical monograph on acupuncture that returns to the classical roots while integrating ancient wisdom with modern understanding. Grounded in a close study of the traditional acupuncture canon and enriched by more than thirty years of the author’s clinical experience, it offers a clear and practical pathway to achieving meaningful therapeutic results in acupuncture practice. The author emphasizes that clinical efficacy depends on several essential pillars: a clear grasp of medical theory, precise diagnosis, deep familiarity with the functional nature of acupoints, accurate point selection, refined point combinations, skillful needling techniques, and practicing Qigong. In particular, the book highlights the importance of diagnostic methods based on meridian differentiation. Readers are guided in applying approaches that directly reveal meridian excess and deficiency, including techniques such as “meridian palpation” and methods for assessing heat sensitivity, among others discussed in the text. These methods underscore the idea that, although acupuncture and herbal medicine both belong to traditional Chinese medicine, they operate within distinct clinical systems. The book also presents many of the author’s unique clinical insights into acupoint selection and application—for example, how to effectively select and use Hegu (LI4) in practice, and how to apply Zhaohai (K6) in a rational and targeted manner—offering inspiration and practical guidance for real-world treatment.
