I have learned all of this and much more in my nearly twenty-five years as a midwife and physical therapist, and I wanted to share these lessons with you in this book. Therefore, I invite you to live a new experience as a midwife and travel from the center of life to the neonatal period in every delivery, reading the messages from each woman’s pelvis as if it were an open book. There is a different way to help mothers connect with their bodies and babies during pregnancy and birth. They already have all the tools and the instinct, but it is our duty as midwives to show them how to use them. Welcome to the adventure of life. My name is Susana, and I am a midwife and physical therapist. From the moment both fields intersected, I developed an interest in the magic of pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and newborn babies at a structural level. So I started working in a way that was much more connected to the body and the primal process that is the miracle of life. I strongly believe that understanding our own work and that of our colleagues helps us more, as well as work better and thus achieve what we cannot achieve on our own.
