The initiation involves a direct confrontation with the Mother Complex and the Anachronistic Father. These figures represent the unbending rules that enforce a "catechism of compliance". This stage is defined by the realization that "Love is a metaphor," moving the Ego from literal dogma toward symbolic understanding. A primary achievement of Leg One is naming the Shadow as Brimstone. This act of "naming the demon" dissipates its autonomous power, allowing the Shadow to transition from a threat into a helpful counselor. Simultaneously, the Anima emerges as a bridge to the Collective Unconscious, appearing first as Crystal and maturing into Guendolen.
