I Will Not Die, But Live:: The Truth About The Crucifixion

What if the central assumption of Christianity—that Jesus died on the cross—was never true? For nearly two thousand years, the story of Jesus has been told through the lens of death and resurrection. Yet beneath the layers of theology, doctrine, and later interpretation lies a far older, quieter testimony—one that speaks not of death overcome, but of life preserved. In I Will Not Die, But Live, Archibald Gandah presents a rigorous and unsettling investigation into the crucifixion narrative, drawing on biblical texts, Jewish prophetic tradition, Roman history, and overlooked extra-biblical sources. With clarity and restraint, he argues that the survival of Jesus—not his death—best explains the empty tomb, the post-crucifixion appearances, the sign of Jonah, and the persistent testimony of the Psalms that proclaim deliverance from death rather than return from it. This book challenges long-held assumptions about: The meaning of the crucifixion and the sign of Jonah The reliability of eyewitness testimony in the Gospels The role of Paul in reshaping Jesus’ message The prophetic voice of the Psalms and their original intent The mission of Jesus to the lost sheep of the House of Israel The absence of an atonement theology in the Hebrew prophets Extra-biblical traditions that place Jesus beyond Judea after the crucifixion Far from diminishing Jesus, this work restores his full humanity—born as we are born, tested as we are tested, and vindicated not through mythic resurrection, but through survival, endurance, and mission fulfilled. It presents Jesus not as a sacrificial abstraction but as a living teacher whose message was life, obedience, and awakening to the divine image within. Written with philosophical depth and historical care, I Will Not Die, But Live invites readers—believers, skeptics, and seekers alike—to reconsider the foundations of Christian faith and to encounter Jesus anew, not as a doctrine to be defended, but as a life to be understood. This is not a denial of faith. It is a recovery of meaning. And it begins with a question too long left unasked.
