Drug addiction in Balochistan Origin, Impacts and Geopolitical Dimensions: Narcotic Terrorism

Drug Addiction in Balochistan is a compelling, deeply researched, and human-centred exploration of one of the most overlooked public health and social crises in South Asia. Written by Abdul Salam Khan, an experienced policy analyst and psychosocial practitioner, this book goes beyond statistics to uncover the lived realities behind addiction in Pakistan’s largest yet most marginalized province. Blending history, geopolitics, psychology, sociology, and public policy, the book traces how regional conflicts, porous borders, poverty, unemployment, and weak social infrastructure have transformed Balochistan into a critical corridor for narcotics trafficking and a vulnerable ground for substance abuse, particularly among youth and students. With rare clarity, the author explains the psychological mechanics of addiction, the gendered dimensions of substance use, and the silent suffering of families and communities. What sets this work apart is its balance of scholarly rigor and humane storytelling. Drawing on field research, case studies, and international frameworks (including UNODC standards), the book offers evidence-based recommendations for prevention, rehabilitation, law enforcement reform, and community engagement. Both a serious academic resource and a call to conscience, Drug Addiction in Balochistan is essential reading for policymakers, researchers, educators, healthcare professionals, and anyone committed to understanding and addressing addiction with empathy, insight, and hope.
