Some attribute the text to Zosimos of Panopolis, the first recorded alchemist in history. Others believe it to be the work of a Hermetic physician from Alexandria, perhaps a disciple of the school of Ammonius Saccas, blending Platonic philosophy with Egyptian cosmology. The manuscript refers to “the Threefold Flame” — a concept predating the Emerald Tablet — suggesting this work may have inspired later Hermetic traditions and even early Christian mysticism.
