Archive: Volume One 2005-2008

For the first time in print, the early writings of Lincoln Cannon are gathered into one volume. A founder of both the Mormon Transhumanist Association and the Christian Transhumanist Association, Cannon published these articles on his website between 2005 and 2008. Archive Volume One now preserves them in book form. Cannon is a technologist and philosopher, and a leading voice of religious Transhumanism. His work has helped shape the growing conversation about how faith adapts in an age of accelerating technological change. This book is a record of both a movement in formation and a mind in motion: sometimes playful, sometimes pointed, always deliberate. In these pages, Cannon wrestles with questions at the crossroads of faith, philosophy, and technology. He answers critics of Transhumanism, reinterprets the Bible and Mormon scripture in light of contemporary science and technological trends, and sketches ideas that would become the New God Argument. Alongside those themes are personal reflections, cultural commentary, and flashes of humor — from Monty Python parodies to meditations on Christmas gifts — that reveal the human voice behind the thought. Framed with a foreword by Christopher Bradford and an afterword by Joseph West, Archive Volume One is essential reading for anyone interested in how religion and technology converge. Whether you are a student of philosophy, a person of faith, or simply curious about the future of human possibility, this book offers an engaging invitation to think more deeply about salvation, mortality, and the shape of things to come.
