Bert author, editor, compiled and published "Billy the Kid's Kid The Hispanic Connection" © 2001. While helping Dad compiIe his book I learned so much about Abrana Garcia and Billy the Kid who are the biological parents of great grandpa Patrocinio (Pat) Garcia Born March 17, 1875 in Arenoso /Sunnyside just outside of Fort Sumner NM. Billy's family many have asked who and where are these people and children, how many? "The Garcia's, Abrana in Santa Rosa si el hijo de Billy the Kid". This 55 page manuscript, I have edited each page then made a photo copy of each page and provided many photos. I promised dad that I would publish the manuscript someday so it would be available to the public for those who follow the Legend of Billy the Kid. AREA NEWS Santa Rosa New Mexico News May 7th, 1970: Uncle of Martin F. Garcia Was Trusted Friend of Famed Billy the Kid. Interview with Martin F. Garcia talks about his Uncle Paco A.P. Anaya friend of Billy the Kid and the manuscript . The purpose of this article however is not to write about Billy the Kid, whom so much has been written as to make him a legendary figure in New Mexico history but rather to bring to light knowledge about a many page privately owned manuscript. “The Kid El Chivato” himself tells about his many exploits and escapades to Paco Anaya who met Billy around 1878 at the Anaya Ranch 3 miles west of Ft Sumner and on the west side of the Pecos River. With many days to follow after each day Billy the Kid was telling his friend Paco Anaya the stories and the happenings during the Lincoln County War, Paco meticulously wrote down word for word all that Billy has told him the night before. When Paco Anaya passed away it had already been agreed upon numerous nephews and nieces Paco had a preference for one nephew and now well along in years the manuscript was given to him and that nephew is Martin F. Garcia from Santa Rosa NM. The manuscript was course written in Spanish. Garcia spent countless hours translating this many page document into English. He then recorded his translation on tape. Mr Garcia is a well educated man he knows full well the value of the historical manuscript in his possession. He believes that its content should be made public. Everything written about Billy the Kid here-to-fore has been from the standpoint of law and order. Every coin has two sides here is the other side of this coin in their own words of the famous outlaw. Garcia has told me, his willingness to allow any serious researcher and or student that would like to know more about Billy the Kid to read this original manuscript.
