The Rise of Modern Art (Messianic Jewish Art)

The Rise of Modern Art is the third book in the series on Messianic Jewish Art. In an analysis of the work of those creating artistic works within the context of a Messianic Jewish artistic genre, artists such as Helen Burman, Anthony Deall, Baruch Maayan, David Isaacson, Robert Gerlach, and Roni Mechanic, are not merely presenting viewers with pictorial compositions. Whether in paint, clay, stone, mosaic, or wire, each artist uses their chosen medium as a means of communicating a profound spiritual message. Their works are infused with biblical themes, prophetic imagery, and a deep yearning to capture emotion and communicate the divine. There is a sense of movement in their art, a visual dialogue between heaven and earth, between past and future. Each stroke, each texture, each form tells a story which is one of faith, of emotion, of covenant, of longing for the ultimate redemption. In addition to their work we have added a section introducing some of the movements in the rise of modern art such as Impressionism, Art Nouveau, Cubism, and Expressionism. This book has colour illustrations of the work of selected artists and a commentary on each artist.
