Description

The LMS Princess Royal Class 'Turbomotive' 6202 in striking Crimson livery comes fitted with an HM7000 decoder and authentic sound effects. This locomotive features the experimental turbine design that made railway history, complete with sprung metal buffers and a 5 pole skew wound motor. Perfect for era 3 layouts, the model includes driver and fireman figures for added realism.HistoryThis was the third prototype of the LMS Princess Royal Class, utilising the same frames as the rest of the class, but having steam turbines in place of conventional cylinders. Completed at Crewe Works in June 1935, the locomotive was used on the West Coast Main Line express and proved to be more economical and eliminated hammer blow to the track. However, it was more complexe to drive and when a turbine failure occured in 1949 it was laid up before being rebuilt as a conversional locomotive, numbered 46202 and named 'Princess Anne' in 1952. Features include working headlamps with the option to fit standard lamp brackets and tender lamp operation controlled by touch.

A 21 pin DCC socket in the locomotive, with pre-fitted sugarcube speaker, fully compatible with Hornby HM7000 control system with a meticulously crafted ‘Turbomotive’ sound available for download.

Cab features include high detail cab and fully decorated backhead with decorated instrument dials, fully decorated bespoke cab crew supplied and opening cab roof vent.

Powerful 5-pole skew wound motor and flywheel with cardan shaft arrangement for smooth running. Sprung metal buffers with rear NEM coupling pocket and detailed front bogie.

A heavy diecast body and chassis with pogo pin wheel pickup arrangement for easy pickup servicing. Wheel pickups on the main locomotive and tender wheelsets. Separately fitted simulated coal load.
