Product Description

Fritillaria Uva-Vulpis, commonly known as Fox’s Head Fritillary, is a striking and unusual Spring-flowering bulb that adds elegance and natural charm to any garden. These compact perennials produce nodding, bell-shaped blooms in a rich, dusky purple with delicate yellow edging, rising above narrow green foliage in mid to late Spring. Ideal for planting in beds, borders, or naturalised woodland-style settings, these hardy bulbs grow to approximately 30-40 cm in height and are a favourite among pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Plant in Autumn to early Winter in fertile, well-draining soil in full sun or dappled shade. Space bulbs around 10 cm apart and at a depth three times their height. Fritillaria Uva-Vulpis thrives with minimal care and returns reliably each year, offering gardeners low-maintenance beauty with a distinctive twist. Suitable for containers and excellent for pairing with other spring bulbs, these flowers also make elegant additions to seasonal cut arrangements. A charming and underused gem for UK gardens.

Key Features

FRITILLARIA UVAVULPIS BULBS Fritillaria UvaVulpis, also known as Fox’s Head Fritillary, is a compact springflowering bulb with graceful, nodding bellshaped blooms in rich shades of deep purple edged with yellow. These distinctive blooms appear in mid to late Spring and grow to a height of around 30-40 cm.

HOW TO PLANT FRITILLARIA Plant Fritillaria UvaVulpis bulbs in welldrained, fertile soil between Autumn and early Winter. Space them approximately 10cm apart and plant at a depth three times the height of the bulb, ideally in full sun or partial shade. After planting, water thoroughly and consider adding mulch or compost to aid moisture retention and drainage.

PLANTING POSITION Ideal for beds, borders, naturalised areas, and woodlandstyle gardens. These Fritillaria bulbs also perform well in containers or under deciduous trees where spring light is plentiful. Their slim stems and fine foliage pair well with other spring bulbs or lowgrowing perennials.

EASY TO STORE If you are not ready to plant the bulbs now, then store them in a cool, dry, frost free, well ventilated location. A garage, shed, loft or cupboard are ideal. Open the paper bag to allow air to circulate round but leave the bulbs in their bags until ready to plant.
