Michael Poulsen, the frontman of Volbeat, relied on various formulas to write the songs that earned the band more than 143 platinum and gold certifications worldwide. For their ninth album, God Of Angels Trust, Poulsen was looking for something immediate and surprising. Poulsen began working on songs for the sequel to 'Servant of the Mind', released in 2021, during the summer of 2024 and the band wrote and recorded an entire album in just five weeks.
