Given the diverse nature of crime and its repercussions on society, criminological research employs a plethora of methodological approaches tailored to explore the multifaceted phenomena associated with criminal acts, delinquency, victimization, and the efficacy of various components of the criminal justice system. The essence of criminological research lies in its quest to understand the underpinnings of criminal behavior and the systemic responses crafted to mitigate such behaviors. Researchers in this field endeavor to dissect the complex interplay between socio-economic factors, psychological undercurrents, environmental influences, and cultural dynamics that contribute to criminal activities. Moreover, the study extends to evaluating the effectiveness, fairness, and efficiency of police practices, judicial systems, and correctional facilities. This comprehensive analysis necessitates the adoption of diverse research methodologies, each chosen based on its capacity to unravel specific aspects of crime and justice.
