Product Description

The Manchester Mothmen bring you the perfect tool to oversee your clothes & carpet moth treatment: a highly effective, pheromone-based monitoring trap.
Despite the prevalence of clothes moth infestations across the UK, there are two pervasive myths that still endure:

1. Clothes moths fly onto your clothes and chew holes through them.
 2. If you have holes in your clothes, it’s clothes moths. If you have holes in your carpet, it’s carpet moths.

Clothes moths don’t fly onto your clothes to eat them: we’re afraid it’s much worse than that. They fly onto your clothes to lay eggs on them. When the eggs eventually hatch, the hungry, hungry larvae emerge and treat themselves to an all-you-can-eat buffet of cashmere, wedding dress and other assorted delicacies. When they’ve had their fill, they pupate into moths. In other words, if you’re seeing multiple clothes moths in your home, it likely means that larvae have already chowed down on something in your home.

That something is usually anything containing animal fibres such as wool, silk, fur or feathers, because these materials contain the keratin/fibroin protein they need to be big and strong nuisances like their parents. Keratin Moths would perhaps be a better name for clothes moths, but rest assured, clothes moths won’t turn their noses up at wool if it isn’t in the shape of a sweater! There’s no gentleman’s agreement between gangs of clothes moths and carpet moths on dividing up territory: they’re one and the same!

So when you spot fibre damage in your home, your priority needs to be dealing with the eggs that have already been planted. Our monitoring traps will be key in providing you crucial information on if you’ve managed to destroy enough eggs, and helping you determine the location of the infested area. If a monitoring trap in one bedroom is empty, but covered in moths in another, you’ll know where to direct your efforts. And when you’ve found the hotspot and dealt with it, our monitoring traps will be able to tell you if that did the trick through a declining catch rate.

Utilising an efficient pyramid shape in conjunction with a finely-tuned pheromone profile to enhance detection, our clothes moth monitoring traps will give you a more accurate idea about the moth population in your home. The attractant mimics the pheromones of a female clothes moth, luring males in.
Unlike double-sided traps, our traps further prevent the possibility of escape, which is especially important when you’re using monitoring traps as an early detection system. The sooner you learn of the presence of moths, the easier the infestation will be to control.

Our traps can be placed on all three sides, but they also come with a hook that will allow you to hang them anywhere you want. They can be set up in seconds, and are easy to dispose of unlike refillable traps.

In contrast to some brands which use ‘blue sticks’ where the pheromones are concentrated, our pheromones are mixed evenly with the glue leading to a more consistent and larger catching area.
Each box contains 5 sets that are vacuum-sealed in foil, and last 3 months from the date you open them.

Key Features

A 3-IN-1 FORMULA: Our monitoring traps use a finely-tuned pheromone profile that help them monitor all three of the main clothes moths species: the common clothes moth, the case-bearing clothes moth and the pale-backed clothes moth. That’s a threesome you’d rather avoid!

SIMPLE SET-UP: Peel off the protective layer, fold the trap together and voila: you’ll be able to start tracking those moths in seconds.

ODOURLESS: Our traps are made with just glue and pheromones. The pheromones lure ‘em, and the glue keeps 'em lured. The pheromones are completely odourless... to human noses, that is!

THREE-SIDED TRAP: Since clothes moths tend to crawl rather than fly, this is especially helpful when the monitoring traps are placed on a flat surface like a carpet. Simply rotate to a fresh side whenever you like!

GUIDE INCLUDED: We’ll make an entomologist of you yet! Know thy enemy--learn which species is invading your home, how it likely got there, and what you can do next to tackle this infestation and ensure future moth prevention.

Disclaimer: These traps are intended only for monitoring purposes, and must be used within an integrated pest management strategy.
