Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care

APPROVED by the American Academy of Audiology for 7.5 ABA tier 1 hours continuing education (.75 CEUs). Counseling-Infused Audiologic Care is a straight forward, practical guide to audiologic counseling and rehabilitation, founded on evidence-based practice. Drs. Clark and English have written the most applicable text on the market specific to the unique challenges presented when counseling persons living with hearing loss. Praised for their clear and empathic writing style, the authors identify key principles that lead to an enhanced application for, and understanding of, the audiologist's fundamental role in helping parents of children with hearing loss, the children themselves, and adult patients to 1) fully understand the impact of hearing loss, 2) form an internal motivation to move forward with recommendations, and 3) ultimately attain the personal empowerment requisite to meet hearing challenges head on. By emphasizing the humanistic side of audiology and a personal adjustment counseling approach, with clear description and frequent demonstrations through vignettes of day-to-day application, this is a balanced guide to a person-centered approach to audiologic treatment. Clark and English continue to demonstrate why their names are synonymous with expertise in audiologic counseling. Dr. Joseph Montano, Proessor of Audiology, Weill Cornell Medical College
