Product Description This NRS Healthcare Walk Safe® Medium S58115, is the most significant innovation in walking frames for 70 years & is designed for user independence, confidence, safety & support. It was created and tested in partnership with the University of Salford, with 4 years of research and development and clinical testing. Walk Safe® features large swivel castors which mean that you don’t have to stop and pick the frame up to change direction, just steer the way you want to go and the frame will smoothly move in that direction, even over a change of terrain such as different flooring. This makes the Walk Safe® twice as stable as a standard walking frame during turning, improving stability, support & user confidence, and can help to lower the risk of the user falling. It also helps the user to walk independently with a more natural gait, in any direction, and over flooring changes. The large swivel castors have a patented design magnetic direction bias, designed to help automatically realign the frame after turning, so the user goes easily in a stable straight line again. The gliders on the rear legs of the Walk Safe® glide while walking, but also act as brakes if the user pushes their weight down on the frame, so the user is also able to stop as required & in full control. The whole frame is remarkably intuitive & easy to use. Another innovation is that the user can use the Walk Safe® to easily change from standing from a seated position, something you cannot do with a standard walking frame. The extra lower set of handles can be pushed down on to help the user lower, or raise, from a seated position in a chair, sofa, toilet or bed. This is particularly useful if your chair does not have armrests to assist you. When the user pushes down on the handles, the user’s weight activates the brake feature on the back gliders, safely stopping the frame from moving, while raising or lowering. The upper handles have rubber insets for extra grip & comfort. The lightweight, high grade aluminium Walk Safe® frame is fully welded for extra strength and is width and height adjustable, so can be adjusted to the users exact requirements. How to measure the handgrip height you need: Get a friend ready to measure you (if you measure yourself, you may lean sideways and get the wrong measurement!) Wearing your normal shoes, stand facing forward with feet shoulder width apart. With your arms held naturally at your sides, measure from the floor to your wristbone. This measurement is the one you need for the handle height of your walking frame. This Medium size is suitable if your measurement is 75 – 85cm (29½ - 33½") To measure the correct width of your Walk Safe®, there should be a small gap between your hips and the frame. Make the Walk Safe® wider for extra stability and support, or narrower to move through tighter spaces. The Walk Safe® is designed with clips already in place to be compatible with the Buckingham Caddy (available separately), to allow the user to transport personal items, drinks, snacks etc. The whole frame can be split into 2 parts, making it easier to fit into a car when travelling, then quickly re-assembled at your destination.
