Bengaluru Through My Eyes (Weekend Trips)

Bengaluru—once a sleepy cantonment town, now a thriving metropolis—is a city of many identities. It is the Garden City of India, the Silicon Valley of the East, and a melting pot of cultures and traditions. Bengaluru Through My Eyes is a personal and immersive exploration of this ever-evolving city, revealing its landmarks, history, and daily life through the lens of someone who has lived, worked, and loved this place. From the colonial architecture of MG Road to the bustling IT corridors of Electronic City, the serene beauty of Lal Bagh, and the chaotic energy of KR Market, this book takes you on a journey through Bengaluru’s past and present. It captures the city’s essence—its resilience, warmth, and unique blend of old and new. The book is not just a travelogue but a tapestry of experiences. It narrates how Bengaluru grew from a pensioner’s paradise to a global technology hub, showcasing key places such as the majestic Vidhana Soudha, the historic Bangalore Palace, and the spiritual tranquillity of Nandi Hills. It also highlights the city’s infrastructural challenges, the influx of diverse populations, and the spirit that binds its people together. Having lived in Bengaluru at different phases of my life, I have seen its transformation firsthand. This book reflects my journey—from childhood visits to the Air Force Station in Jalahalli to my professional years working in the city’s tech sector. It also captures my interactions with Bengaluru’s people—auto drivers with a story to tell, café owners preserving age-old recipes, and software engineers building the future. For the reader, Bengaluru Through My Eyes offers a richly detailed account of what makes the city tick. Whether you are a long-time resident reminiscing about the Bangalore of old, a newcomer eager to understand its heartbeat, or a traveller wanting to experience its vibrancy, this book serves as both a guide and a companion. Bengaluru is not just a city—it is a sentiment, an experience, and a way of life. Through this book, I hope to share that experience with you.
