This book covers the companies and individuals who made and manufactured bamboo and wood fishing rods from the time inception of split cane in the mid 19th century to around the 1960's when fibreglass became the preferred rod building material. It is intended as a reference guide and gives a short (long in some cases) history of each manufacturer or tackle maker and many of their advertisements of those days are shown as a lot can be learned from them. It is also a passion of this author to investigate old advertisements by scouring thousands of old books and magazines both fishing related and perhaps for a future publication non fishing related.
