The Peugeot team that designed the 205 has accomplished a remarkable feat, creating a car that looks like no one else while remaining true to classic aesthetic values. The perfect balance of shapes has been achieved by highlighting small details such as the original radiator grille, consisting of three thin horizontal bars painted in the same colour as the bodywork. In the winter of 1981, the first pre-production models underwent extensive testing at the Belchamp Technical Centre test site, near Sochaux, covering more than a million kilometres in 14 weeks! The official presentation of the new Peugeot 205 took place on January 20, 1983 in front of 424 dealers invited specifically for the occasion. A few days later, Peugeot makes 150 copies of the 205 SR 1360cc available to journalists throughout France before organising test drives for the specialized press in Morocco... Everyone thrilled!
