Description

Truth Be Told follows Poppy Parnell (Octavia Spencer), a podcaster who uses her platform to investigate complex criminal cases. In Season 1, Poppy reopens a high-profile murder case that made her a national sensation, only to question whether she helped wrongfully convict Warren Cave (Aaron Paul). As she digs deeper, she grapples with issues of privacy, media influence, and race. Season 2 takes Poppy’s work much closer to home. After the murder of her best friend Micah’s (Kate Hudson) husband, Poppy is reluctantly drawn back into the world of true crime. The case forces her to confront painful personal and professional dilemmas, as she wrestles with whether the fallout is worth the pursuit of justice. Season 3 finds Poppy frustrated by the lack of media attention on missing young Black girls. She teams up with a determined school principal (Gabrielle Union) to keep their stories in the public eye while investigating a potential sex trafficking ring.
