Description

The Porsche 917 KH was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1969. The Porsche 917 came as a big surprise in 1970 and, thanks to the 5.0-liter V-shaped twelv-cylinder engine with a power of 600 hp, it managed to win the overall title for the first time. The acronym KH stands for short tail, as the original version of the 917 was modified for better performance on the track. For example, thanks to the shortening of the rear, it was possible to increase the width of the 917 and thus fit wider tyres, which allowed for better handling. This Porsche also achieved an absolute victory in the 1000 km. In the 24 Hours of Le Mans, pilots Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood achieved the victory. The two riders completed a total of 343 laps.
