Description

My name is DeAnna LeTray. I was born in Rome New York. Since I can remember ( when I was around four years old) I have always identified as feminine.. or girly if you will. As an adolescent, I went to girl Scouts and played with Barbies as well as always hung out with my sister and her friends. I never felt comfortable around boys, or what they did or how they acted. This was not me. My feminine mind… was an individual who associated herself with female characteristics. I can also think both feminine and masculine... as I can see both sides of the gender code. I know that what I was thinking in my head was in fact the truth... that I was a girl born with a male name on my birth certificate. however with a feminine mindset. What should I do with this?. Well folks that's a good question. What did I do with this. I remember when I was 4 years old, I used to dress up into my sisters clothing because she was two years older than me..so second hand clothes were available. Her Sunday dress outfit.. complete with my moms heels large brimed summer hat with a bow and flower suited my perfect. We would dance in front of the mirror for hours. I enjoyed it so much. It was perfect. Howwever, my Dad was opposed and my sister wasn't into it because my mom would focus more on me and gave me more attention. The day that young DeAnna was put on hold, was the day that my father made me get my haircut. I was around 8 years old. My hair was long and curly, and I loved it. It made me happy. Now mind you, back then... the word "transgender" didn't exist. Boys being girls.. girls being boys ??? OMG!! NO WAY. Moving to 12 years old and still trying to adapt to social issuses... I noticed my body was different than boys. I felt different and thought differently. I had skinny legs, a feminine face, with feminine hips and waist. I started to feel uncomfortable being a "boy" as stated on my birth cirtificate. My mind told me otherwise. When I was 17 or 18.. hanging around my friends, going to parties, the girls knew that I was a girl trapped in a boys world. I was relieved and terrified at the same time. Boys looked at me different... They knew I wanted to be somebody's girlfriend. I did meet a girl when I was 17. We ended up getting married, and having two children...as well as raising them together. We ended up getting a divorce. The downside to being with a traditional relationship was... I knew who I was.. and I didn't want to hide anymore. I would picture myself living as a female in my home and in privacy.. and occasionally I would go out into public presenting myself in female attire and learn to be who I was. As I grew into my 30s, The call to transition fully and completly grew stronger. I started presenting myself more as female by wearing the proper clothing, wigs, and makeup. This is how I felt my best ..and I knew this was who I was since I was born From my early 40s until present, I openly express myself as female and changed my name legally to DeAnna LeTray. I also changed all my official documents to my preffered name, and my gender reflected "F" instead of "M" on everything. This was a tremendus accomplishment. This is a full-time basis life for me now since 2009. The only problem was I had a day job.. which I had planned on working, however my appererance needeed to change. Would I be accepted? Ill never know. Things changed the night of my arrest. These events that I write in this book describes in detail of what happened to me with regard to the Watertyown police sexual assulting me in the Jefferson County Jail, As officers and gaurds watched. ____I am DeAnna LeTray …and this my story.________________________________________________________________________
