Nine North American Road Trips

Seven of these road trips were undertaken in September of each year from 2013 to 2019. Also included in this book is a record of two earlier trips that were undertaken in 1976 and 2000. The book has been compiled by Ian Hotchkiss who has taken and put into the same format, each one of the individual diaries that were written-up by Ian’s late wife, Jacqueline Carol ‘Jackie’ Hotchkiss, after every road trip. All of the original diaries were created by Jackie from her meticulously-detailed Trip Itineraries which she had researched and written prior to each trip to include maps and comprehensive route directions including places to stay and to eat. For reasons of brevity and copyright, those maps have been excluded here. Some of the photographs were taken by Ian, using a variety of cameras over the years. Some of the photographs were taken by Jackie using a tablet. Sadly, Jackie went on her last journey in May 2024 and died, after a lengthy and disabling illness which became more serious in late 2019 and – regrettably – put paid to any further adventures. We were pleased that we had travelled when we did and there is a message in that for everyone not to leave it too late! If you want to travel, then do not wait. Go!
