Seiji Ozawa was not only Japan's most famous conductor, but also the founder of the Saito Kinen Festivals in Matsumoto which was renamed Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival in 2015. On the occasion of the 80th Birthday of Maestro Ozawa, Martha Argerich and Matthias Goerne interpreted Beethoven's choral fantasy op. 80 as well as "Happy Birthday" - a very emotional moment for the maestro! "Getting together with these musicians every year in Matsumoto and creating excellent music is very valuable to me. It is a great pleasure for me to share this music that could only come about here in Matsumoto with these musicians."
