Place the Oniris brace in a bowl and cover with boiling water. Make sure that the water covers the gutters for 2 minutes, then remove the brace from the water using a suitable utensil and wait about 15 seconds. Stand in front of a mirror and put the gutters in your mouth. Make sure they are aligned with your teeth. Tighten the teeth on the gutters without moving the jaw forward. Wait 2 minutes without moving and holding jaws tight. Store the device in its box at a temperature below 40°C. After each use, clean the device with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Then rinse with cold water. The use of tablets is also recommended to prevent the appearance of odor, bio film and extend the life of your orthosis. The ONIRIS orthosis has a lifespan of around 18 months, one of the longest for self-adapting orthotics on the market. Safety Warning Important Information Please read the instructions carefully before using the Oniris device. Not Suitable For • Individuals with tooth mobility, gum disease, or infectious complications of the periodontium • Those who snore due to nasal issues • Individuals with an uncontrollable gag reflex or epilepsy • Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment • Anyone under the age of 18 • People with fewer than 8 natural teeth per jaw (4 on each side), unless using a full upper removable denture or a lower denture supported by two Locator-type implants • Individuals with fixed wires from orthodontic treatment or veneers If in doubt, please consult a dental or ENT specialist. Adaptation Period A period of adjustment is normal and may take from a few days to a few weeks. During this time, some users may experience dry mouth, excessive salivation, tooth sensitivity, or muscular discomfort upon waking. These effects typically resolve shortly after removing the device. To help with adaptation, you may wear the device for 1–3 hours per evening for the first few days. If you wake up during the night and feel discomfort, simply remove the device and return to sleep. Comfort generally improves over time with continued use. Effectiveness For some users, the device may not be fully effective due to excessive mouth opening. In such cases, elastic straps (available upon request) may improve results. If effectiveness remains limited, consult a dentist, ENT specialist, or sleep physician for additional treatment options. If discomfort persists, discontinue use and seek medical advice. Maintenance Store the device in its box at temperatures below 45°C. After each use, clean it with a toothbrush and toothpaste, rinse with cold water, and regularly use disinfectant tablets to prevent odours and biofilm buildup. Discolouration or staining over time is normal and does not affect performance. A dental check-up every six months is recommended. For users with sleep apnoea, regular consultation with your physician is advised.
