Making the transition to critical care transport from hospital nursing or being a street medic can feel overwhelming. This book came from my own struggles when the education offered to me was "Here is the information- memorize it," and I spent months making flashcards, drawing charts, and reading hundreds of pages to memorize facts. The problem was- I didn't understand any of it. I passed my CFRN but I still felt like I didn't get it. Thus began my own journey of getting it on my own. These pages are filled with explanations and graphics that I hope will help you to understand the WHY behind the facts you've been asked to memorize. Understanding a concept is a far better model than rote learning, and it will allow you to practice safe, competent patient care but it also enables you to walk yourself to the correct answer when you're sitting for those tough exams. Passing a test might get you the job of your dreams, but knowing how to take care of these super sick patients is what is going to give you a long and successful career.
