I began my service in the Metropolitan Police starting at Marylebone Police Station (DM), then moved to the 7/8 ISU at Harrow Road Police Station (DR) as the graphics officer and then ended up as the Senior Police Artist in SO11 at New Scotland Yard, throughout my thirty years in the Met I always seemed to find time to sketch some police orientated cartoons and caricatures of colleagues, these cartoons By Boris (my Police nickname) were very popular amongst the rank and file of the officers in the Met. The Quick Changeover cartoon, was the one I seem to be remembered for the most. The Quick Changeover refers to when you had a period of only eight hours between two working shift rotas, this was a killer shift to do and the toilet or trap was that quiet place where you could reflect and help get your brain working ready for the merciless shift pattern. I decided to create this book as a compilation of my early creations up to the digital creations of my By Boris police art I now create for both serving and retired police officers. Hope this book brings you a giggle or two as you view my art, it was and still is my passion to continue to create my Police Art from my memories whilst serving in the Met. Jan Szymczuk aka Boris
