In this case there is meant to be a little of everything: explanations of the meanings of Hebrew words, scriptural cross-references, scientific and historical findings that confirm the Bible, and so on. Pretty much any question you may have about Genesis chapters 1-11 is answered here. For example, why did God use Adam’s rib to make Eve? Because ribs are really good at growing back (Yes, really!) if they’re removed by a skilled surgeon (sources cited in book). For another example, why did Noah build his ark to the proportions he did? Because a ship with those proportions is nearly impossible to capsize (Sources for this are also cited in the book). In this commentary not only are true explanations offered, but misconceptions and mistakes are dispelled by the truckload, as well as misinterpretations. Does Genesis 2:4 say that the Earth was created in one day? Was this a contradiction? No, because “in-the-day-of-making” is a Hebrew figure of speech that just means “when” (The source for this is cited in the book too–what a deal!). Every answer given in the commentary has been well-researched and is well-supported by the facts. This commentary has been and continues to be a labor of love. I, the author, wish to factually explain everything possible about the Bible so that Christians have a full understanding of scripture (and non-Christians; you can read the book too!). As many sources as possible are consulted so that there can be no doubt about the Bible’s veracity. What makes Genesis 1 different from every other creation story? What is the importance of Tubal-Cain being a blacksmith, and what does it tell us about his people? Why did Noah get drunk off wine if he was a righteous man? Why did it take so long for the people to get to Shinar after the flood? Where is Shinar, anyway? All these questions and more are answered in this commentary! Get excited, because this book is 468 pages of learning, and learning is fun! I, the author, learned more from researching and writing this than I ever imagined. Because the style is all-encompassing, not every verse in the commentary follows the same formula–sometimes a scientific principle that will show why a verse is true (such as Adam’s rib mentioned earlier) takes center stage, sometimes precedence is given to a verse's meaning disproving a certain heresy (such as Genesis 1:1 disproving Gnosticism), and often there are sprinkled, here and there, whatever facts or figures are relevant to the topic at hand. There is a ton of information packed into the Bible, and in response this commentary is packed with information explaining or defending it. Now, to be honest, there may be a couple of sections that you'll find boring, but rest assured that the interesting parts are so interesting that they’ll more than make up for it.
