Mental Illnesses with their different Facets Volume 6: Tourette Syndrome, Sexual Abuse of Children, Domestic Violence, Covid-19 & Long Covid, Debts Poverty

A healthy person never thinks about mental illnesses. If one of his family members or relatives is suffering from mental illnesses it is simply said that person is mentally retarded or something is wrong in his head. Even in my case when I encountered my environmental medicine patients in the middle of 1990’s I could make a clear picture of extreme stress, depression, and all the other anxiety disorders. Moreover, throughout the world it is a taboo to talk about a mentally ill person. It is kept mostly as a secret. Thanks to the horrible Covid-19 infection the number of depressive patients went up drastically and suddenly the whole world started to talk about depression, stress, loneliness, domestic violence, sexual abuse etc. Even in developing or emerging countries the people went to the psychiatrists or psychotherapists with their mentally ill family members. All knew little about these complicated diseases and the few and quick explanations given by the doctors do not give a clear picture to understand the mental illnesses. In Volume 6 the chapters dealt are Tourette Syndrome, Sexual Abuse of Children, Domestic Violence, Covid-19 – Long Covid, Debts and Poverty. These are written in a simple and understandable manner. I started writing, “Mental Illnesses with their different Facets,” and it has many pages and I thought a single book is too big to carry in the handbag to read so I have made it in 6 volumes. In this first volume There are chapters about stress, depression, burnout, bipolar disorder, and lovesickness. In volume 2 the chapters areGeneralized Anxiety disorder,Social Phobia (Social anxiety disorder), Panic attacks and Panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Separation anxiety, Selective mutism, andSubstance / Medication- induced anxiety disorder. In volume 3 the chapters are Anorexia,Bulimia, Binge eating, Alcoholism, Gambling addiction and Substance abuse and drug addiction. Many women have experienced these eating disorders. Alcoholism, Gambling Addiction and Substance abuse and drug addiction are known to many and those affected suffer mental illnesses. In Volume 4 the chapters are Psychosis, Schizophrenia, Intellectual/Mental disabilities, ADHD- Attention-Deficit/hyperactivity disorder, Autism, Asperger Syndrome and Hypochondria. In Volume 5 the chapters are Psychotherapy, Behavioural Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Autogenic Training, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Borderline Disorder, Munchausen Syndrome, Personality Disorder, The Littering Messy Syndrome and Sleepwalking. At the end of every volume there are literature citations All these makes this book with its 6 volumes more interesting to all, from the curious reader to student and others who are in this field. A simple explanation was also given about all the mental illnesses – causes, symptoms, treatments and all the other important things to know. Thus, it is useful to all including students who are interested to know more about these mental illnesses. Literature citations can help to deepen the knowledge if necessary. This book is written to all with or without medical or psychological knowledge to understand the complex mental illnesses to react in the right way to help those who suffer.
