Wes Ingram and Mark Thornton developed Wes Ingram’s Notebook - Engine Building to capture decades of experience Wes gained building and tuning hundreds of Alfa Romeo engines. These are the legendary Type 105 and 115 Alfa Romeo 4-cylinder engines, powering valuable and enjoyable Alfas spanning four decades of production. The authors write with the reader in mind, whether Alfa owners, enthusiasts, collectors, technicians, engine builders, or just plain gear-heads. Wes provides step by step procedures that take the reader from prepared parts to an assembled engine. Mark adds sidebars to spell out things that every engine builder already knows, but that he had to learn by doing, making lots of mistakes along the way. He prepared a glossary to help readers with the arcane lexicon engineers and technicians use when discussing engines. Wes Ingram and business partner Herb Sanborn have rebuilt thousands of Alfa Romeo SPICA fuel injection pumps, providing a world resource for that complex product. NHRA champion, shop owner, engine builder, and Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club technical advisor, Wes writes for do-it-yourself Alfa owners who are not engine builders. He has helped thousands of Alfa owners keep their cars on the road. Mark Thornton, motorsports enthusiast and career laboratory scientist, has never earned a living working on cars. He did run an engineering laboratory in the space business, and has worked on his own Alfa Romeos over four decades.
