Campaign and Combat Operations Analysis: A Field Guide for Analysis Teams

This field guide documents a systems approach to providing decision makers with timely, relevant, and actionable campaign and combat operations analysis (CCOA) using constructive simulation models. The field guide provides analysis teams with key terms, organization, and detailed procedures for the life cycle of an analysis project including nomination, scoping, processing data calls, model configuration, model verification, analysis, analysis validation, and presentation of analysis. Also included as annexes are Department of Defense Architecture Framework standard activity models for the entire CCOA process, recommended measures for outcome, performance, and effectiveness, and considerations for integrating machine learning and artificial intelligence. All content in the field guide was developed, used, and validated while conducting campaign and combat operations analysis in support of the United States Military.
