The soldering iron is supplied with a long life 2.3 mm tip (B005060). The nominal tip temperature is 420°C. The tip is fitted with an internal shim that gives improved heat transfer and allows easier tip changes if a replacement is required. A wide range of replacement tips available separately. The copper tips have been plated with iron and then coated with nickel to give a very long soldering life when compared with other tips. These tips are suitable for use with lead-free solders. They have an internal metal shim for fixing. The shim gives better heat transfer and also makes the tip easier to change if a replacement is needed.
