Bill Randall painted some of the most popular pinups of the 1940s to ‘60s. He was one of the top commercial artists of his day, and also loved painting landscapes, seascapes, figure studies, and portraits. His talent spanned all sketching and painting styles and media, from pencil and charcoal to gouache, watercolors, and oils. His subjects ranged from the classic pinups for which he was best-known, to advertising for Batman and even Mr. Clean, still seen on supermarket shelves today. Pinups Portraits and Posters showcases many works held by Bill Randall’s family and never before published, and includes a fascinating chapter on his artistic process, from concept sketch to finished art. Randall’s four children and a grandchild collaborated to create this overview of his life and artwork, showcasing his fine art, commercial and cover art, and, of course, his lighthearted pinup calendars, interspersed with memories of him as dad.
