Description

AFRICA – THE LAND OF FANTASY BORDERS, MISCONCEPTIONS, BRAINWASHED HISTORY AND PURE FICTION – BLOOD SWEAT TOIL AND TROUBLE... FROM LOCAL RULE, TO COLONISATION, TO LOCAL RULE, TO ECONOMIC COLONISATION AND BEYOND. This is a short coffee table read on a few over looked facts about Africa I thought needed raising - some are historical some are current and some are for the future. In many ways this short book could really be another long newspaper article really - but those tend to get lost and thrown away in the next days bin - so I wanted these short message to hold at least some degree of durability. In this short write up I point out some of the fairy tale, absurd, fictional understandings of colonisation, the pure dreaming level vrs the reality on the ground - i use a few examples to point this out - and the vast scale of the continent forms an important foundation of all the blindsiding that has happened in history - the detachment from reality that came with a supposed colonisation of the continent, and where i see some seriously problematic financial arrangements currently playing out. This is not a dig at anyone in particular -it however i think brutally points out some pretty obvious observations that have been missed by pretty much every history book I've read to date. And it also gives a warning to this frenzy of loans the continent is taking on - what my take is on where that is going. It really is a short read - the book is not trying to be a history book, there are plenty of those around - this is merely making some prudent and critical points about the past and most importantly the future - let it be a warning notice of sorts i guess. So in many ways its a short opinion piece. Take it as you will i guess - i think i make some very positive points that should help younger generations in deciding how they proceed with economic affairs
