After reading this manuscript, a learned friend of mine inquired: “Yitzhak, what gives you the license to write about the subject of Evolution… when we all know that you are not a scientist?” “One does not need to be a scientist,” replied I, “in order to write about science fiction!” There are, after all, phenomena in the physical world that cannot be explained by Science, just as there are mathematical truths that cannot be proven. If we don’t have a scientifically viable theory to account for the origin of life, we need not despair. Not every mystery necessarily has a scientific solution. It does not mean that we should not look for a scientific solution. Indeed, we should. The lack of such a solution, however, does not grant a license to make up stories and pass them off to a gullible public as Science. The absence of a scientifically plausible explanation for the origin of life does not lend any shred of credibility to the evolutionists’ baseless and undemonstrated tales, nor does it grant any legitimacy to their unrelenting quest of foisting a failed theory upon the public under the guise of scientific truth. There is no obligation to provide a natural explanation of origins. There may not be one. I encourage Darwin’s supporters to keep looking. But please remember that the solution to the mystery of the origin of proteins, or the origin of life, may not be where you are looking. ******* In the spring of 2000, the University of Washington geology department sponsored a lecture by the renowned Chinese paleontologist Jun-Yuan Chen. As it happens, the fossils Professor Chen dug up near the town of Chengjiang in China turn Darwin’s tree of life upside down. Chen’s discovery also clearly debunks gradualism, a central pillar of Darwinian Evolutionary Theory. In his presentation, Professor Cheng highlighted the apparent contradiction between the Chinese fossil evidence and Darwinian orthodoxy. Unable to hide his displeasure, one of the professors in the audience asked Chen whether he wasn’t apprehensive about expressing his doubts about Darwinism so freely — especially given China’s reputation for suppressing dissenting opinion. A wry smile spread across his face, Professor Chen responded: “In China we can criticize Darwin, but not the government.
