Most down jackets can’t have a waterproof membrane because it isn’t breathable enough for the down to stay lofty, so Rab uses a Pertex Shield membrane because it has all the breathability that down needs to do its job. Pertex Shield is also windproof and has a fluorocarbon-free DWR finish to bead snowflakes and raindrops off the shell’s surface for bolstered protection from wet weather. The lofty, compressible 700-fill down also has a fluorocarbon-free Nikwax hydrophobic finish to retain its lofty warmth even if it happens to get wet. All this protection is sure to keep you warm whether it’s snowing in the alpine or in town. Rab baffled the down in narrow box walls to improve mobility without adding cold spots. There are plenty of adjustments at the hood, hem, and cuffs to batten down the hatches when winter’s at its worst.
