The Lamy dialog is the first fountain pen where the nib and clip are retractable. Through a twist mechanism, the spring slides out of the inside of the fountain pen while the clip lowers onto the housing
When the rotary fountain pen is turned, a ball valve automatically slides in front of the opening and protects the retracted spring from drying out and dirt
The dialog cc version has been redesigned by a shortened top with refined end plate and roller brake instead of the clip
