In this research paper I will write about Turkish nationalism in defining fatherland, across history, in order to gain a better comprehension of recent Turkish national identity in the year 2008. In Turkish politics, we see an emerging of a totally different sense of nationalism, a changing idea of “vatan” which I will explain in this paper in the context of its use according to one particular national Turkish Party, the MHP (The National Movement Party). The aim of this project is to determine whether this new sense of nationalism in Turkish political and social landscape is more aligned to the West in defining fatherland or not?
