Description

Formé aux Beaux-Arts et à l'Ecole des Arts et Métiers de Vevey en Suisse, Etienne Robial débute en 1970 comme directeur artistique chez Barclay et Filipacchi. Il fonde avec Florence Cestac, en 1972, la maison d'édition Futuropolis : 328 auteurs dont Tardi, Bazooka, Götting, Veyron, Bilal, Joost Swarte, Willem, Ever Meulen, Baudoin, Loustal, Hyman..., plus de 500 livres aux avant-gardes de la bande dessinée. Suivent des projets de presse et de magazines, Métal Hurlant, (A SUIVRE), Télérama, TAG, Le Jour, les InRockuptibles, L'Equipe, de nombreuses identités graphiques et visuelles d'entreprises pour les éditions Denoél, Verticales, des fédérations françaises sportives pour la basket, le handball, le football, le PSG, puis pour des institutions, le CNC, PlanetBank, Guédelon, le RSA, HandiCapZéro. Et des centaines de pochettes de disques, de vinyles, de CD... Fondant en 1982, avec Mathias Ledoux, la société de production On-Off, Etienne Robial s'attaque à un terrain jusqu'alors inexploré, l'univers télévisuel. Il devient, avec la création de systèmes graphiques, le premier spécialiste d'identités et d'habillages de chaînes de télévision. 4700 génériques pour CANAL+, dont il sera le directeur artistique général de 1984 à 2009, La Sept, M6, RTL9, i>TELE... Il reçoit en 2006 le Promax Broadcast Deign outstanding achievement Award. Il enseigne la conception graphique à Penninghen et est membre de l'AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale). Ce livre retrace à travers 3500 images, et à partir de 82 alphabets, les tracés régulateurs de 306 logotypes et marques qui ont transformé la communication visuelle.
